The way in which it was implemented was fairly pain free (although late) and it is nice to see some old faces back around game. Others however are leaving with the news that the Americans are receiving +2 tomes that are unbound gamers EU side stating that this is wrong and that we as players receive a much worse service compared to the US. This is an interesting point and it caused a rather large discussion at the DDO-EU forums. I'm on the fence, as always, I think that the problem is that the US and EU are completely different places. Funnily enough! I think that as the markets are different the stuff we get is diferent.

Now I've been checking out the American forums for info regarding this and so far have found that a 3 day suspension WILL be incurred if you use the LFM for this use, more bans for repeat offenders! SEE!

Well it looks likes the lads and ladies from The Spellswords on Keeper are up to their old tricks with another Auction event, from what I heard the first was a great success with a feature on the main site to boot the event looks set out to be one of the best events on DDO-europe so far! Such a shame the folks on Devourer who are good at this sort of thing aren't doing it, were nice people really! The list of items up for auction is starting to look good with a few suprise lots which will no doubt be wonderous beyond belief with one being hailed "the most sought after IG", sounds hopeful!

IF you get a chance to pop over to the keeper server if only as a level 1 to join in the fun and games its on July 7th at around 7.15pm so you can get to bed on time mister!

A link to the thread regarding the auction is right here

(maybe)

Well well well, its that time of the season again DDO loot and xp weekend extravaganza!

But is it all it appears to be. Some of you more avid gamers probably remember the first loot weekend we had in Europe which was deemed a success but some of us more dubious players perhaps felt the loot was poorly thought out and ultimately useless. Now I understand every player (except maybe those who try to remain true to AD&D ) would like to own a Vorpal, or a set of +5 mithril full-plate. However over the loot weekend it made some players, who perhaps went out of their way to trade for such items and incurred a substantial lose to their pockets, feel as if they were victims to a suddenly mediocre economy where everything was devalued and the rate of inflation decreased to nothing. I can understand this, if vorpals are no longer special what is the point in them?

I don’t fully believe that a loot weekend is a necessarily a good idea it makes the items that have been already looted seem some what devalued. I think that the idea of 50% extra XP is an absolutely incredible offer and also one that benefits every single player not just those who aim for loot. I think that the idea is good enough and is a very generous idea to effectively give away virtual items. A nice idea but the problem now is that no one is quite sure whether we in Europe are getting the loot and XP or just the XP and as yet there is no real confirmation from anyone!

Well I for one hope it is just the XP I really need to level my lowbie.

However the topic does raise some very important issues, namely whether or not using LFM's with a trade in the comment box is in anyway acceptable.

Well I have read alot of comments on the issue and if I am entirely honest (which I always am) I don't mind it, I think its a good way of bringing potential custom to traders and sellers alike. "But it goes against the reason of LFM" I hear you cry! Well yes and no. The major problem in my opinion is actually the comment box. The comment box is believe it or not standalone, it is in the who panel, it is shown in the who panel, here you see the list of people who are online (ignoring those scrupulous individuals who are anonymous!) and here you can type a comment that will be shown to anyone looking for a certain type of player. For example alot of people explain a little of their playstyle to allow the gorup leader to choose the correct character for their quest. For example if i set up a group for lets say Stormcleave on elite a level 8-10 group, we are desperately short of a cleric! woe is me! so a quick click or two on the who list gives me a list of level 8-10 clerics who are online, another click and we see the players who are not grouped, excellent, but who to pick!

Ubercleric, level 9, with the comment, "Fast play style, insta-death specialist" hmmm ok fast is good but i need a healer!

so you look on

Nicecleric, level 9 with the comment "healing enhanced cleric, with dv."

PERFECT, the comment has helped make my choice as it is a cleric between 8-10 and one which likes to heal, excellent, send a tell offer a small bribe to join and your away!

However the problem truly arrives when you place other things in the comment box, for example "will trade one Black dragon scale for one Blue dragon scale". Fair enough, I need black scales. However if someone with this in their comment box, sets up a group it also appears next to the quest name, preferred classes required and the level requirements. This is an issue, unfortunately people may feel that this is an abuse of the LFM system, then again I would <del>argue</del> suggest (and have <del>argued</del> suggested) that reading a few extra "fake" trade LFM's is not really that big of a deal but to some it is.

I would perhaps recommend to Turbine that a Looking to Trade window may be appropriate in DDO, almost like an in game bulletin board to allow players who dont frequent the amazing DDO forums to see who has what and what they could possibly offer you for your +2 Vorpal Sickle RR WF!

A link to the "discussion" is as follows
